An article in the Guardian Newspaper on 12 April 2026 reviews the US Bases in the UK. Particular point is that they are being used to bomb Iran on a regular basis. 

On 19th March 2026 women from Bradford stood by the Main Gates of RAF Menwith Hill to protest about the attacks on Iran. The names of children killed in the bombing of a school were read out.

Some of those entering the base gave a thumbs up to the protestors.

On 3rd March 2026 the regular Peace Witness at the Gates of Menwith Hill was supported by more people than usual. MoD Police presence increased from the usual one to three officers by the Main Gate.

Calderdale CND came on Shrove Tuesday 2026 to support the regular Tuesday evening peace witness. They added numbers and make pancakes to share.

It was noticed that a larger number of vehicles were entering and leaving Menwith Hill than usual.

The full number of bases is not clear but is at least 22. 

There are threats of military action being taken by the USA against an increasing list of countries.

Menwith Hill Accountability Campaign will be supporting World Beyond War's global call for all foreign military bases to be closed.

Christine was a long term campaigner on the issues around Menwith Hill.
