MHAC recognises a significant risk to the Yorkshire and wider UK population from the United States surveillance activity at Menwith Hill because it makes a significant military target.
Tuesday evening peace witness and protest has returned to the Main Gates.
There is a peaceful witness, demonstration and protest outside the Main Gates of the American base at Menwith Hill every Tuesday evening (6 – 7pm). This demonstration has been going almost every week since July 2000. Menwith Hill is on the A59 Harrogate to Skipton road) and nine miles from Harrogate North Yorkshire. The Main Gates are on the side of Menwith Hill furthest away from the A59.
On 3rd March 2026 the regular Peace Witness at the Gates of Menwith Hill was supported by more people than usual. MoD Police presence increased from the usual one to three officers by the Main Gate.
On 19th March 2026 women from Bradford stood by the Main Gates of RAF Menwith Hill to protest about the attacks on Iran. The names of children killed in the bombing of a school were read out.
Some of those entering the base gave a thumbs up to the protestors.
An article in the Guardian Newspaper on 12 April 2026 reviews the US Bases in the UK. Particular point is that they are being used to bomb Iran on a regular basis.
